Become an APCO Member

Hi there, it’s great to see you’re about to complete an APCO Membership Form. Before you start, there are a few things we need you to know.




Please make sure you are ready to complete the whole form before you begin.




The application must be completed in one sitting, so make sure you have the following:


• Your Australian Business Number (ABN) and associated entity name.


• The name, email, contact number and position title for those to be nominated as your Primary, Accounts and Executive Contacts.


Following this, your Executive contact will be emailed a form to sign, an invoice will be issued, and once paid, access to Membership programs and benefits will be granted.




If joining as a Brand Owner Member, make sure you are aware of your obligations.




When joining as a Brand Owner Member, you also become a Signatory to the Australian Packaging Covenant. Through this Membership type, APCO provides your organisation with a supported and guided pathway to comply with the legislative obligations of the National Environment Protection (Used Packaging Materials) Measure 2011. 


Obligations are set out in the Covenant and include such things as:




  • New Member Action Plan: A one off plan to be completed within 3 months of joining. 


  • APCO Annual Report: A report due online by the 31st March each year.


  • APCO Action Plan: A plan developed and submitted each year following completion of the APCO Annual Report. 


  • Membership fees: Fees paid annually to APCO based on your annual turnover - click here to view the fee schedule. Note: Membership runs by financial year and APCO does not pro-rata fees.

Joining to access the Australasian Recycling Label (ARL) Program?




The ARL Program is accessible to compliant Brand Owner and International Affiliate Membership types. Involvement in this Member exclusive program includes access to the Packaging Recyclability Evaluation Portal (PREP) and the ARL artworks to apply on-pack. 




Please note: It can take at least 3 weeks from joining, to having an ARL artwork approved on-pack. Before printing, steps include payment of Membership fees, agreement to program terms and conditions, conducting a PREP report, applying the ARL to packaging design and submitting the design to APCO for approval. Once approval is provided, you can then go to print.
